Joint Replacement

Total joint replacement, also known as arthroplasty, is a treatment option when less invasive procedures do not relieve severe joint pain. At Specialty Orthopaedics, our surgeons specialize in total and partial joint replacement. We use the newest technology and state-of-the-art facilities to provide less invasive, faster recovery techniques.

Why is joint replacement necessary?

Our goal is to help you resume your daily activities as quickly as possible. With total joint replacement, the damaged bones and cartilage are replaced with metal and plastic surfaces that are shaped to restore movement and function. We want you to experience a vast improvement in your range of motion within a matter of weeks.

Types of Joint Replacement

The surgeons at Specialty Orthopaedics specialize in relieving joint pain and restoring mobility through the following total joint replacement procedures.

Hip Replacement

Hip replacement surgery is performed to relieve pain and improve mobility when conservative treatments such as physical therapy or medications are no longer effective. During the procedure, the damaged hip joint is replaced with an implant, allowing patients to return to daily activities with less pain.

Knee Replacement

Knee replacement is a surgical procedure that replaces the worn or damaged portions of the knee joint with prosthetic implants. This procedure is typically recommended for patients experiencing severe knee pain, stiffness, or loss of mobility that has not improved with earlier interventions.

Shoulder Replacement

Shoulder replacement, also known as shoulder arthroplasty, is a safe and effective procedure used to relieve joint pain and restore mobility. In a total shoulder arthroplasty, the damaged shoulder joint is removed and replaced with an artificial implant designed to improve function and reduce discomfort.

What is the recovery process?

In general, our surgeons will encourage you to use your “new” joint shortly after the operation. Most patients will experience temporary pain because the muscles are weak and the tissues are healing, but it will end in a few weeks or months. Our team will develop a personalized exercise program for you after surgery and the motion of your joint will begin to improve in as little as 6 weeks.
