Shoulder Replacement Surgery

When nonsurgical treatments such as medications, physical therapy, or activity modifications are no longer relieving your joint pain in your shoulder, your doctor might consider total shoulder replacement surgery as a good option for your unique shoulder condition.

A shoulder replacement, also called shoulder arthroplasty or total shoulder replacement, is a safe and effective procedure, and Specialty Orthopaedics’ board-certified shoulder surgeons are experts in total joint care and orthopaedic treatments. Our team has extensive experience performing total shoulder replacement for patients across the North Georgia area.

We have three convenient locations in Braselton, Gainesville, and Dawsonville, and an orthopaedic surgery center for a majority of procedures that provides same-day surgical care and allows patients to recover and heal at home.

Total Shoulder Replacement vs. Reverse TSA

With total shoulder arthroplasty, the ball-and-socket joint in your shoulder are removed completely and replaced with a metal ball and plastic shoulder joint. A reverse total should replacement is where the ball-and-socket joint is reversed instead of removed – a ball is attached where your shoulder socket usually sits and a socket is fitted to the top of your upper arm.

When you meet with Specialty Orthopaedics, we will help you decide which procedure is right for you and get you back to feeling your best.
